Georgetown Engagement Photos

When I tell you my heart is melting over these photos of Edwin and Taylor… I mean it. These two are what I consider soulmates. From the beginning of their engagement session to the end, these two and their love absolutely radiated! One thing was obvious when it came down to deciding what they wanted to do for their engagement photos. Edwin and Taylor not only wanted their engagement session to reflect their fun-loving and youthful personalities. They also wanted to show off their playful, sexy side in a stroll through Downtown Georgetown. We were able to get the best of both worlds for these gorgeous Georgetown Engagement Photos. Just wait until you take a look at them…

Corgi’s, Fuzzy Socks, and A Cozy Home

We first started off Edwin and Taylor’s engagement session in the coziness of their own home. It was super important for E & T to not only show their love for each other but also for their adorable pup, INSERT NAME. Don’t be afraid to involve your four-legged friend during your engagement sessions. Since 100% of the time, I will be completely obsessed with them.

There’s often this idea that if you’re wanting an in-home session, you need to have the most pristine home in the world. Let me just say that is the furthest thing from the truth. The whole point of having an in-home session is to showcase your home. All of its nooks and crannies and what makes it yours. The imperfect imperfections, the decor, and styling that speak to you and your love story. In-home sessions are perfect for the couple looking for a more laid-back and relaxed style. Also if you’re wanting something a bit unique compared to the traditional engagement photos, in-home sessions are the way to go!

How to Prep for An In-Home Session

While there isn’t a lot of prep that goes into having an in-home engagement session, here are a few tips that I’ve been able to pass on along the way.

1.) Clear out clutter… but you don’t need to deep clean

You want to make sure that your home is relatively clean when your photographer arrives. When your photographer is taking your engagement photos 99.9% of the time, we will also be capturing everything surrounding you as well. So make sure that in the area in which you’re going to be taking photos, that item are put away and your home is relatively neat before your photographer arrives.

However, that doesn’t mean you need to deep clean your home! Grabbing the spare change between the couch cushions or dusting the overhead fans is not a priority and will most likely not make or break your engagement photos. Stick to an overall clean and organized look, but no need to go overboard.

2.) If you’re planning on going outside, maintain your yard

Now, this goes for any couples wanting to go into their own yard/backyard for their engagement session. It’s important to note that you may want to maintain your yard before your photographer’s arrival. This means picking up any toys, or tools and cutting your grass. Trust me when I say go the extra mile will truly pay off when you receive your photos back.

Don’t be afraid to step outside the box

The best part about in-home sessions is that you can pretty much do whatever you want. For Edwin and Taylor’s engagement session, we made homemade pasta, but who’s to say you can’t bake cookies or watch your favorite movie? The possibilities are endless, so don’t feel confined to only a few ideas. If you need some inspiration for more in-home engagement photos, just click here!

Shortly after, we decided that it was about time for a quick outfit change into something a bit more formal. We hit the streets and made our way to Downtown Georgetown, soaking up all that this beautiful city has to offer! Sometimes the best types of backdrops are the ones we stumble upon when walking throughout the city. Homes with vines crawling up the side of the building, or cherry blossoms leaning over a sidewalk. These locations are what I like to call hidden gems and ones I will fully utilize during your engagement session.

Our last stop of the night was the Georgetown Waterfront Park. This waterfront overlooks the Potomac River and is definitely one of my favorite spots to take couples for their engagement session. Of course, what’s an engagement session without some celebratory champagne, so Edwin and Taylor enjoyed a glass of champagne along with a nice little picnic setup to end the evening.
