How to Prep For Your Wedding Day

Engagement

When it comes to wedding planning, a lot of prep is involved. While we all wish we could magically skip through all of the stresses of wedding planning, unfortunately, that’s just not the case. However, knowing how to prep for your wedding day is important. So when the day finally does come, you are set and ready to go. Now, if you’re far along the wedding planning process and want some more prep tips, check out this blog here!

Monitor Your Budget

It can be easy to get carried away with wanting all the latest and greatest for your wedding. Typically when you begin wedding planning, you start with a budget, however, sticking with that budget is difficult. You begin shopping around and notice all the shiny new things you want at your wedding. However, it’s incredibly important to stick to your budget and, most importantly, monitor your budget throughout the process. Trust me when I say items can add up. The last thing you want is to look back and realize you’ve spent way too much $$.Thank me later.

Include Your Partner in the Planning Process

Remember that your wedding day includes two people. So don’t be afraid to ask your partner for advice or include them all together in the planning process. Planning your wedding does not have to be a one-person job. In fact, planning it with your partner can help strengthen your bond! Remember not to get too caught up in the details and take a break when necessary. Wedding planning can be stressful!

Make Sure To Add Personal Touches

Your wedding day does not have to be boring and generic. In fact, I encourage you to aim for the exact opposite. If there’s something that you’ve been wanting to do for a while at your wedding, I say go for it. Your wedding is a unique experience that should be personalized completely to you and your boo. Whether it be customized table settings or a table filled with photos telling your love story. Whichever you choose, just remember that your wedding day can be (and should be) all about you.

Schedule Appointments Ahead of Time

Especially if you’re having your wedding during the busy season (May – October), please make sure to schedule your appointments ahead of time. This includes hair, makeup, nail, or any other maintenance you may need before your wedding day. Hair stylists, makeup artists, and nail techs can book up months (years sometimes) in advance. If you want someone specifically to do these things for you, just remember to schedule those appointments before they completely book out.

Have Buffer Time

There are a million things that can go wrong on a wedding day. There are also a million things that could go right! The main thing to remember is that you must anticipate anything happening, that includes things running behind. If that’s the case, it’s always a good idea to incorporate buffer time for the actual day of your wedding. This can be discussed with your wedding planner/photographer, but if you don’t have one… always account for some time just in case things run late.

Prioritize Self Care

Make sure that while going through all the motions of planning a wedding, prioritize time for self-care. You want to ensure that you’re looking (and feeling) your best on one of the most special days of your life. This means booking that massage, doing that face mask, reading a book while drinking wine, spending time with friends/family, and doing whatever makes you feel happy and content. This can go a long way in how you’ll feel leading up to the wedding day.

Have Backup Plans (especially in case of bad weather)

This goes especially if you’re planning on having an outdoor wedding; always have a backup plan. Since Mother Nature can be so unpredictable, you want to ensure that you have backup plans set just in case it decides to rain on your parade. Pun totally intended. Talk with your wedding venue to see if they have tents or if they have indoor venue options on the chance that it does rain on the day of your wedding.

Don’t Try New Skincare/Tanning Products

I beg you, please don’t try new skincare/tanning products in the weeks leading up to your wedding. Unless you can guarantee you won’t have any reaction before your wedding, I always say don’t risk it. Trying new skincare products could lead to a negative reaction, affecting how you feel on your wedding day. The same thing goes for tanning products or going to a tanning salon. The last thing you want is to be severely burned or orange walking into your wedding day. Make sure that if you’re testing out any new products, you are doing it well before your wedding date.

Communicate with your Photographer

Make sure that you communicate with your photographer throughout the wedding planning process. Your photographer is there to help you in this process and ensure everything is running smoothly! Whether it be vendor recommendations, timeline suggestions, or opinions on what to wear, your photographer is there for you every step of the way. Speaking of, if you need a wedding photographer and are searching for the perfect one, check out this blog here! Try Not To Overstress

Above all else, one of my biggest wedding day preparation tips is not to overstress. This time of your life is precious and cherishable, and you shouldn’t think about all the stressful times you had. To not stress yourself out too much, don’t focus too hard on the small insignificant details. At the end of the day, what matters most is that you are celebrating a commitment of two people and being around loved ones.
